At Hurricane Fence, we believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back. That's why we're always proud to work with non-profit and charitable organizations that focus on making our community a better, safer place. In Central Virginia, you’d be hard-pressed to find an organization more committed to its community's betterment than FeedMore, which is why we are so grateful to have been selected to participate in the construction of their new headquarters coming to Richmond, Virginia.
Let’s dive into FeedMore’s work, their beautiful new headquarters, and the fencing solutions they require to keep their operations running smoothly.
Who is FeedMore?
FeedMore is a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting hunger in Central Virginia. They operate food banks, deliver meals to homebound individuals, and run various programs to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. Their work is vital, touching the lives of thousands of people every day.
The Importance of FeedMore's Work
In today's world, food insecurity remains a pressing issue, even in our own backyard. FeedMore's efforts are crucial in:
- Providing immediate relief to those facing hunger
- Supporting long-term food security through education and community programs
- Bringing our community together to address a common cause
By moving into a new headquarters, FeedMore is expanding its capacity to serve those in need, and we're honored to play a part in this expansion.
FeedMore’s New HQ & Our Contributions
Security and functionality are paramount for an organization like FeedMore. Our team at Hurricane Fence was tasked with installing comprehensive fencing and gate solutions for their new location.
Let's take a closer look at each component:
Gate Operators
For FeedMore's transportation, delivery, and logistics entry, we installed:
- A chain-driven operator system complete with remote transmitters, photo eyes, and vehicle detection loops for seamless entry and exit
- A 30' slide gate for large vehicle access
- A 24' double drive gate for additional entry points
- Two Hysecurity barrier arm operators with 14' arms and vehicle detection loops, mounted on gooseneck pedestals with AK11 keypads for controlled entry
These advanced systems ensure secure and efficient access control, allowing FeedMore to manage the flow of vehicles in and out of their facility with ease.
Chain Link & Parking Gates
To secure the perimeter and manage traffic flow, we provided:
- Approximately 850 linear feet of 8' high black vinyl-coated chain link fence, ensuring a secure perimeter
- Two 26' double drive black parking gates (cattle gates) for controlled access to specific areas
This combination of fencing and gates provides FeedMore with a robust security solution while maintaining the flexibility they need for their operations.
Louvered Fencing
To enhance privacy and aesthetics, we installed:
- 148 linear feet of 8' high aluminum louvered screen
This louvered fencing offers an attractive barrier that provides privacy without completely blocking airflow, striking a balance between security, openness, and aesthetic industrial appeal.
Custom Aluminum Patio Screen
To add aesthetic appeal to common areas for staff and visitors, we installed:
This patio screen enhances the pleasant outdoor space that’s been created for FeedMore's team and guests, providing a partial visual barrier while maintaining an open feel.
The Impact of Secure Facilities on Non-Profit Operations
For organizations like FeedMore, having a secure and well-equipped facility is more than just a matter of convenience – it's essential for their operations. Here's why:
- Protection of Resources: Secure fencing helps protect valuable food supplies and equipment from theft or vandalism.
- Efficient Logistics: Well-designed gates and access systems allow for smooth incoming and outgoing traffic, crucial for food distribution operations.
- Staff and Volunteer Safety: A secure environment ensures that FeedMore's dedicated team can focus on their mission without safety concerns.
- Community Trust: A professional, secure facility helps build trust with donors, volunteers, and those served by FeedMore.
Looking Ahead
As FeedMore settles into their new headquarters, we at Hurricane Fence are filled with pride knowing that our work will contribute to their ongoing mission. We encourage our community to support FeedMore through volunteering, donations, or simply spreading awareness about food insecurity in our area.
Together, we can build a stronger, more secure future for all members of our community. We're not just installing fences – we're helping to build a foundation for hope and nourishment in Central Virginia.
Lastly, thank you again to FeedMore for allowing us to participate in this construction project!
