Typically, a new roll of barbed wire is 80 rods [1,320 feet (ft.)] in length and consists of double strand galvanized wire with barbs attached  at intervals of about 4 inches. Generally accepted razor lengths:
  • short razor wire has barbs from 10 mm to 15 mm long
  • medium razor wire has barbs 20 mm to 25 mm long
